Diwali card night, wherever everyone is
Taash after the puja is half of Diwali. If the family is spread across cities this year, you can still sit at one table: open a room here, drop the code in the family WhatsApp group, and everyone plays from their own phone โ Bhabhi, Seep, Rummy or Hearts.
Set it up in three steps
- One person opens a room. Go to the home page, pick a game, type your name and press Create.
- Send the invite. Press the green WhatsApp button in the room and share it to the family group. Anyone who taps the link lands straight at your table.
- Deal. When everyone's in, the host presses Deal. Keep a video call going on another phone or laptop for the banter.
Short of players? If Nani has gone to bed, a bot can take her seat โ easy, medium or hard โ so the game goes on.
Which game for which crowd?
- Bhabhi โ the big-group favourite. 3 to 8 players, quick rounds, and everyone knows the thulla. Great with the kids and cousins.
- Seep โ for the serious foursome. Two teams of two, houses, cementing and 50-point sweeps. The game the elders will argue about.
- Rummy โ 13-card Indian rummy with your own family's rules: jokers, sets, pure sequences, points or pool.
- Hearts โ a calmer trick game for 3 to 8. Dodge the hearts and the Queen of Spades.
Play for fun, not money
Diwali taash often comes with stakes. Here there's no betting of any kind โ no chips, no wallets, nothing to pay or win. Play for bragging rights, or for the last kaju katli.
